Honeywell Resideo S87B1016 DSI Ignition Module is used to control the direct spark ignition systems of heating appliances.  The unit senses flame and starts ignition on gas fire furnaces, boilers, and other heating devices by using a single electrode.  Used with Natural or Liquid Propane gases

The S87B Models are compatible with any gas controller with 2 amps or less rating for direct spark ignition applications.  There is no pre-purge on this model and a single trial for ignition.  If it fails, there is a shutdown and 11-second lockout, followed by an 11-second ignition trial time.  This model also includes an alarm terminal.  For installation and wiring diagram instructions see the Technical Data tab, however, it is always recommended that installation and service be performed by a licensed technician.

Direct Spark Ignition Module features a thermostat reset after a lockout, ignition failure leads to lockout after one trial of ignition, it generates high voltage potential for main burner ignition and can control gas and gas ignition sequence.

A:
The alarm circuit can be used to generate an output signal in the event of a "system safety lockout".  Essentially, in the event of loss of flame (the flame rod stops sensing the flame), the alarm contact can be used to send an output to actuate an alarm.  This alarm can be a light, horn, buzzer, etc.

We strongly encourage you to have a licensed professional review your application to ensure that the use of the Honeywell S87B1016 in your unique application to ensure the module is safely installed in accordance with codes and standards mandated by your Authority Having Jurisdiction.
