The S87K1008 is a direct spark ignition control module with a power rating of 25V, 60 Hz, and 2A amperage. It has a 4-second ignition trial time, a 30-second pre-purge time, 0.8-second flame failure re-ignition time. UL-listed & CSA-certified.

The two-rod ignition module is suitable for gas-fired furnaces, boilers, and heating applications with natural or LP gas. The unit it used to control the gas valve, monitor the main burner flame, and creates high voltage for spark ignition.

The S87K1008 is easy to install and mounted in any position with easy-to-access 1/4" male quick-connect terminals and a 1/4" diameter stud base for the ignition cable.

REPLACED A BAD S87K1008 WITH A NEW ONE. BURNER FIRED UP FOR 5 MINUTES AND SHUT DOWN. TESTED VOLTAGE TO GAS VALVE AND IT IS ONLY GETTING 2 VOLTS NOW. WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED? CALLED TECH SUPPORT ON BURNER AND THEY THINK IT WAS A BAD MODULE. HAVE A NEW MODULE TO INSTALL BUT DON'T WANT IT TO BLOW ALSO. ANY IDEAS?

It is always advisable to have experienced and licensed technicians working on Direct Spark Ignition (DSI) systems. Often a poor ground connection will cause a safety shutdown of a burner. It is On this page you can find the Honeywell S87 user guide. Page 10 and 11 have Service and Troubleshooting information that you can share with your technician.
